Parade of Homes 2012
UPDATE 2/2/2012 - The BANCF is having a meeting shortly to make some decisions, including whether or not to have volunteers sell tickets. Will keep you posted.
(Jan 2012) The Builders’ Association of North Central Florida (BANCF) puts on The Parade of Homes each year. It is a variety of homes throughout Gainesville and the surrounding areas that are opened as “show homes” to the public. Most of these homes are still for sale. The event lasts from a Saturday, through the week and to the following Sunday. Each person needs to buy a ticket, but that ticket is good for all sites at any time during the event.
In previous years, BANCF has asked for certain organizations to provide volunteers to sit at their sites, selling tickets to those who need them, verifying visitors have tickets and answering any questions by the visitors. Our volunteers always work in pairs. Sign up with a friend. In return, BANCF makes a donation to the organization.
The Marine Corps League (MCL) has been one of those organizations in the past. We have sponsored multiple sites. To provide that many volunteers, the MCL has called on the support group to provide volunteers. After the event, the MCL donates a prorated amount to the support group for their assistance.
The Parade of Homes is scheduled for April 21 - 29, 2012. The hours are typically:
Weekend shifts: 12:30 to 3pm and 2:45pm to 6pm. (sites are open 1pm to 6pm)
Weekdays: 4:45pm to 7pm. (sites are open 5pm to 7pm).
At the time of this writing, I have no received confirmation on whether BANCF will ask us for volunteers. But assuming they do, please consider when you might be able to help.
